McIntosh DS200 Streaming DAC
Streaming DAC
The McIntosh DS200 is a high-end Streaming DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) designed for music enthusiasts who desire seamless streaming capabilities combined with premium sound quality. It supports various built-in casting technologies, including Apple AirPlay, Bluetooth, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, and TIDAL Connect, and is Roon Ready and Roon Tested.
A key feature of the DS200 is its user-friendly design, requiring no special control app or technical skills for operation. Users can stream music directly from their smart devices, with the device acting as a remote control for volume and song selection. For wireless connectivity, it's equipped with two Wi-Fi antennas and one Bluetooth antenna, and also has an Ethernet port for wired connections. It supports Google Assistant for voice control. For Bluetooth streaming, it uses Bluetooth 5.0, Advanced Audio Coding (AAC), Qualcomm aptX HD for hi-res audio, and Qualcomm aptX Low Latency for improved audio-visual sync.
The DS200 boasts an audiophile-grade DAC, specifically a next-generation, Quad Balanced, 8-channel, 32-bit DAC, which ensures a wide dynamic range and low distortion for pristine sound. Beyond streaming, it offers 8 digital audio inputs for connecting other components like CD players or tuners. Its USB input supports high-resolution digital audio playback up to DSD512 and DXD up to 384kHz, while coaxial and optical inputs handle up to 24-bit/192kHz. An HDMI (ARC) input allows for enhanced TV audio, converting multi-channel formats to two-channel. The DS200 provides both balanced and unbalanced analog outputs and can operate in fixed or variable output modes, allowing it to function as a preamplifier in all-digital systems. It features classic McIntosh aesthetics, including a black glass faceplate, rotary knobs, and illuminated logo, and includes a remote control.
